Types of Vibrators: Which One’s Right for Me?

There are a ton of vibrators out there. Literally and figuratively. I’ve never gone so far as to actually weigh vibrators or get an estimate of how much all the vibrators in the world weigh. That just doesn’t seem like a fruitful use of my time. Still, there are many different types of vibrators available now (with more and more hitting the market each day) so it’s natural if you feel a bit confused when you first start your search for your go-to vibe.

That’s why I’ve put together this little post to break down the different types of vibrators out there, the types of stimulation they offer, and their various shapes and sizes.

Standard Vibrators

Also known as traditional vibrators, these are your typical, everyday vibe that’ll get the job done. It doesn’t offer anything fancy, so don’t expect anything other than plastic and average length and width. The vibrating options can be varied though and that’s usually enough to turn a basic toy into a favorite. You’ll need to stock up on your AA batteries for C cell’s to keep these babies humming.

Bullet Vibes

These vibrators are small and compact, meaning they can easily slip into your carryon without much notice. They’re plastic or aluminum, feature several different vibration settings, and can be used all over the body including on the nipples, clitoris, and vulva. Or, let him have a go: they provide excellent scrotal stimulation.

Rabbit Vibrators

The good ‘ol rabbit. These vibrators are designed to hit all of your hot spots at once. They feature a rotating shaft that stimulates the G-spot and the vaginal walls and an attachment with bunny ears or something similar that stimulates the clitoris. Don’t be surprised if you come across rabbit vibrators that look nothing like the original, however. They’ve come a long way, baby!

G-Spot Vibes

G-Spot vibrators are, as you might have guessed, made to stimulate the G-Spot. Their most identifying feature is a curve or “hooked” head. They’re made from many different materials from plastic to silicone to jelly.

Looks Like The Real Thing

These vibrators are highly realistic and designed to look like a real penis, veins and all! They’re usually made out of a softer material like silicone or rubber and feature many different vibration strengths and speeds.

Couples Vibes

Who says vibrating fun is only to be had solo? There are many different toys for couples available that can enhance your experience together from hands-free to vibrating cock rings to vibrators you wear on your fingers. The list goes on and on! All I know is it’s fun to open up a new toy and have a willing partner to try it out with.

The Unclassifiable

Sometimes vibrators just don’t fall into any specific category. They might feature several speed and strength settings. They may be phallic; they may not. They come in funky shapes, sizes, and designs. You could probably leave some of these toys out on your desk and no one would know they were vibrators! Still, the different shapes and contours can make for new pleasurable experiences.
Now that you know the different types of vibrators available, you can get to shopping! Remember to include your partner, if you can. He or she will likely want a say in gizmos you bring to the bedroom.

I realized after posting last week about rabbit vibrators that I still had a few more helpful tips I could have offered you. That’s what I’m going to do today: give you even more tips to make the most of your time with the bunny. So sit, back, relax, and get ready for a good time!

One Feature at a Time

Rabbits come with a lot of features built right in. It may be tempting to switch them all on at once but you might send your lady parts into overload. In layman’s terms: ouch! Instead, take it nice and slow. Experiment with one setting at a time. Do you like the vibrating shaft? Great. Now see if the rotation feels good. What about the bouncing, rumbling beads? And don’t forget those bunny ears (or whatever fulfills that purpose on your model). Is the stimulation to your clit enjoyable or too much, too soon? All of the settings and doodads on rabbit vibes are designed to offer pleasure. Just make sure you’re ready for them before you turn all engines to “go.”

Turn the Rabbit Vibe Around

Sounds simple enough, right? If you like a little anal play, turn that bunny around so the clit stimulator tickles your anus. Don’t like it? That’s okay. Turn it back around. Just make sure you wash it before putting it back on your clit.

Get Your Partner Involved

Who said you had to use your new bunny alone? It can be even more enjoyable when you have your partner using the sex toy on you (or vice versa). Just make sure to communicate clearly. If something doesn’t feel good, say so!

Clean It Up

Always, always, always clean your sex toys after using them. You can use a mild anti-bacterial soap or a sex toy cleaner, if you wish. Store your rabbit vibe in a cool and dry place–like your dresser–with the batteries removed until you’re ready to use it again. And if these tips have been a help to you, the “next time” is likely to be very soon!

New to Rabbit Vibrators? 5 Tips for a Guaranteed Good Time

If you’ve recently purchased a rabbit vibrator (or you’re thinking about buying one), you might open up the box and get a big question mark on your face. “How the heck am I supposed to use this thing?” you might be thinking. Or, maybe you’re new to the wonderful world of sex toys and are a bit nervous about experimenting with your new gizmo.

Whatever category you fall into, here are a few quick tips for getting over your inhibitions so you can get to hopping.
Prep and prime. Before you take your bunny for a test run, wash it well with a mild soap and water. Better yet, use a toy cleaner to remove any germs and chemicals left over from manufacturing. Completely dry it off and put in the batteries.
Press some buttons. Seriously, press the buttons on the vibrator to see what they do. If there’s an instruction manual that came with it, read the key features to familiarize yourself with how this toy works. The last thing you want to do is be fiddling and fumbling in the dark. Test out each of the vibrating functions including speed and pulse variations to figure out what you think you might like best.
Lie back, close your eyes, and turn it on. Just as you experimented with the functions before, now you can experiment with them on your body. Press the shaft of the rabbit vibrator against your vulva. Try out the different speeds to see what feels best. Give yourself (or your partner) plenty of clitoral stimulation to really get the party started.
Insert the toy. Once you’re nice and wet (or you’ve applied generous amounts of lubricant) you can insert the rabbit vibrator into your vagina. Get comfortable with the feeling of the toy inside you before you start up any additional features like the shaft rotation or flicking bunny ears.
Have fun. After a bit of play, you won’t need these tips anymore. Lose yourself in the experience and enjoy all the different sensations this kind of sex toy provides.

Rabbit Vibrators: What Are They & How Do I Use Them?

If you’re making a pit-stop at my blog here, I’m going to assume you have a vague idea of what a rabbit vibrator is. At the end of the millennium, they rose in prominence as “the hot sex toy to have” and they’re still wildly popular. Of course, there’s a much wider variety of those bunnies available now, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

Rabbit vibrators

First, let’s break down the rabbit into its main components

What Makes a Rabbit Vibrator a Rabbit?

Dual-action is the keyword here. Rabbit vibrators are designed to get at all of your hot spots at once, offering clitoral and G-spot stimulation thanks to its shaft and rabbit-shaped attachment. The shaft is to be inserted into the vagina, which vibrates to stimulate the G-spot. Many of these toys have a rotating shaft to offer even more direct G-spot stimulation. At the base of the shaft are pearls that rotate, spin, and bounce about to stimulate the entrance of the vagina. Finally, attached to the shaft is a smaller vibrator that is shaped like a rabbit (or some other critter) to stimulate the clitoris.

Is It Still a Rabbit If It’s a Dolphin?

On the original rabbit vibrator, it was the bunny’s ears that offered direct clit stimulation. However, there are tons of different variations available now in the shape of all sorts of creatures from beavers to dolphins. The short answer is, yes. Even if it’s not in the shape of a rabbit, it’s still a rabbit vibrator if it features dual-action vibes in the traditional shaft with attachment positioning.

Features to Look Out For

When evaluating different rabbit vibrators, use these questions to sort through their features to find the one(s) that will offer you the greatest amount of pleasure:

  • What material is it made from?
  • Do the vibrators have variable speeds and pulse settings?
  • Is it waterproof?
  • Is the “rabbit” portion of the sex toy aligned with your anatomy to allow for the most pleasure?
  • Is the toy in a pleasing shape? Do you like how it looks?
  • Is it easy to clean/maintain?

You’re all set! Now go get hopping with your new rabbit vibe!
